Hard Simple Things

It’s hard to do simple tasks, those things that you mean to do that take only a few minutes but that you put off for days, those things that we know are good for us but can’t seem to make ourselves do, those things that people say are so easy but that are so difficult for us.

We do hard things instead.

We take the more difficult path when we opt out of the simple tedious tasks. We choose immediate gratification over long-term growth - and this is the more difficult path. It’s more difficult because we constantly need to regain the gratification instead of slowly and steadily building a life that produces this gratification. We get caught in the cycle of needing to find more new and exciting ways to live instead of deepening our process through gradual improvement with simple small steps.

We like to do hard things because they pay off immediately, and it makes us feel good immediately, but doing simple things for a long time is a lot harder - and it pays off even more. Simple, right?

But it doesn’t make sense.

You’re right it doesn’t because very little does. If you find that your life makes perfect sense, watch out. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not meant to. It’s meant to be understood, but it’s not meant to make sense.

Simple things.

Simplify your life. Simplify your mind. Simplify your self. Simple things are hard to get to and easy to maintain. They’re the structures that hold us together that must be built carefully with great precision and dedication. They’re the little things that often go unnoticed because they’re so fundamental that they become part of our existence. They’re the reason hard work seems effortless when we see others do it so well.

Simple.

Exist. Be happy. Be grateful. Be kind. Be.

Find your pleasures in the simplicity of life.

Seek to simplify further

here you’ll find the intricacies & paradoxes.

Here you’ll exist.

A perspective on better understanding existence examining life, death, afterwards.

A book of poetry that captures the chaos & messiness of life and the paradox that when we “land”, we’re actually closer to falling apart again in the infinite cycle of self-discovery & awareness.
