What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is a frequency of energy that already exists within us. Some of us are more or less attuned with our creative, feminine flow of energy that is Kundalini, but each of have it. We’re all born with kundalini energy, but for many of us, it’s inactive because of our upbringings and access to this knowledge. But we can choose to awaken it. We can choose be awake & aware of the life that exists beyond what society tells us our lives are meant to be. We can choose the lives we lead & how we perceive our realities, and kundalini energy helps us do this.

Origin of Kundalini

The origin of Kundalini is somewhat mysterious because it was kept secret from so many for so long, especially in the western world. Kundalini traces back to Hinduism and translates literally from Sanskrit to “coiled snake” (kuṇḍalinī कुण्डलिनी). It’s a feminine word in Sanskrit which is perhaps part of it’s roots in feminine energy. Today Kundalini exists in Northern America with the teachings & pieces that have been shared with us over the years through yoga, meditations, tantra, activations, etc.

Kundalini Energy

Kundalini energy is available to all of us, whether we know anything about it or not. It can be intentionally activated or spontaneously awakened through life events. Either way, it’s a process that occurs naturally in divine timing. Even if we think we’re intentionally activating kundalini, something occurred in our lives to lead us to desiring to awaken it. If you’re reading this article, you’re either already awakened or on the path to awaking your kundalini❤

Kundalini Yoga & Activation

All yoga practices will ultimately move you closer toward awakening your kundalini by uniting your body, mind & spirit, but there is yoga designed specifically for kundalini. It’s a combination of meditations, mantras, kriyas, asanas, and dedication to becoming a more self-aware, flexible, strong, grounded individual.

Kundalini Activations, on the other hand, are a surrender based practice where we are guided through a relaxing meditation to encourage kundalini to surge through our bodies uniting all the conscious practice we’ve done so far. This is where we can let go of everything we “know” in this reality & open ourselves up to a truly expanded consciousness.

Our mind, body & spirit all work together in this process. We practice strengthening our physical body, then we open our minds up to receiving more which in turn helps us strengthen physically and prepare to expand our mental capacity even more.

Right Hand & Left Hand

The right-hand approach is the more masculine practice of structure, dedicated & consistent practice.

The left-hand is associated with the feminine path of creativity, flow, and spontaneity.

Ultimately, both are essential for creating a balanced practice and awakening kundalini energy in a way that is sustainable and safe for our bodies and nervous systems. But how you support your body as kundalini energy flows through you is up to you. Whether you’re a yogi in Kundalini or Hatha, or practicing any other form of holistic wellness, you’re on the right track to supporting your kundalini energetic awakening.

What is Kundalini

Kundalini is an energy that already exists within each of us. It’s the unique expression and identity that we are all capable of so long as we are willing to open our minds and hearts to seeing, feeling, and listening to the world around us❤
