Language Journaling & Diary Starter Pack

So you want to start a language journal, but don’t know where to start. You’re not alone, and it’s okay to feel anxious & confused about getting started.

I know I did when I first started. I did until I realized that the most important part of language journaling is just simply writing because ANYTHING that you write in your target language is practice.

How to Get Started with Your Language Journal

Grab a notebook & start writing. Don’t worry about if what you write correct or even makes sense - there’s time for corrections later.

Write any amount: a page, a paragraph, or even just a sentence. It all counts, and it’s all progress toward fluency. In fact, writing less but writing more often will improve your language skills FASTER.

If you still don’t know where to start or what to write, consider starting with prompts so that you can focus all your thinking & energy on writing in your target language.

:This’ll make it easier to get started by giving you a clear path to follow to spark the beginning of your creative language learning process.

You’ll be journaling like a pro in no time!

Language Diary vs Journal

Alternatively, you can create a language diary by simply writing about your daily activities. This is a great way to practice:

  • dates, days, months, years

  • everyday speech

  • thinking in your target language

It’s a less structured approach than a journal that allows for more creativity & flexibility that’s idea if writing already comes somewhat naturally to you.
